  1. Pallet Stop - Stop Stock Damage.

  2. Introduction to Pallet Stop • Stock stored on the floor gets more damage than stock off the ground. • Typically 25% of warehouse stock is stored here. • A Leading Retailer store can have as much as €10K per week in damaged stock. (transaction type 390)

  3. What kind of damage • Not always damage to the item in the carton. • If the carton is torn or crumpled customers will not choose it. It becomes “un saleable” • Stock must then be re packaged. • Or even disposed of. (Loss of profit and increase in refuse costs.)

  4. Typical Floor Stock Damage

  5. What causes damage? • Front wheels of fork trucks while “high reaching”. • Fork trucks while reversing. • Pallet trucks moving other pallets. • Customer trolley impact. • Customers standing on ground stock to reach higher.

  6. Fast Easy Solution • Introduce a barrier to protect the stock from these events. • Must be easy to install and remove. • Require no special tools to install. • Flat pack to transport or store when not required. • Low cost solution as high quantities may be required. A mid sized Leading Retailer can have 500 ground stock locations.

  7. The Pallet Stop • Comprising of two timber battens with steel brackets to hold a single high impact elastomer damping pad.

  8. Pallet Stop Installed • Once assembled the unit legs simply slide into the pallet front.

  9. Where is Pallet Stop Installed? • ANY ground floor storage bay. • Public access floor to stop customer trolley damage. • Back warehouse for forktruck damage.

  10. Do Pallet Stops work? • A Leading Retailer store has damage of over £8K per week.(Transaction 390’s) • Comprised of handling & storing damage and customers opening / tearing cartons. • Requiring rework or repair to goods and new packaging.

  11. Do Pallet Stops Work. • The Retailer in Gateshead Purchased an initial order of 400 pallet stops. • The NEXT month damage was reduced by 50% • Eliminating nearly all pallet and fork truck damage. • The 50% remaining was down to customers opening packaging.

  12. When do Pallet Stops pay for themselves? • Life expectancy of the impact pad is upward of 20 years. • The timber may get broken but can be replaced. • We advise a 10 year write off period. • Realistically they will last much longer.

  13. When do Pallet Stops pay for themselves? • Based on this Leading Retailer. • 50% of £8K = £4K X 50 weeks PA. • Gives year saving of £200K. • Over the 10 year working life is £2M in reduced damage to purchased stock.

  14. Pallet Stop and the Environment. Timber Battens. • Materials used. • Timber: Grown from sustainable managed timber sources. • We are looking at recycled plastic beams for this application. However at the moment the cost is very high and the product over engineered.

  15. Pallet Stop and the Environment. Timber Battens. • Materials used. • Elastomer Impact pad. • Made from natural rubber. • We have an alternative made from recycled car tyres. Although more expensive this is a big environmental issue as it reduces land fill.

  16. Pallet Stop and the Environment. Packaging and Transport. • We have stopped using wooden pallets to deliver goods. • Saving to our purchase and transport costs • Saving to customer refuse and disposal costs.
