Present Status of the RV’s DB (1) • Because of funding problems that OCEANIC database is facing • Because of special requests that some European initiatives are asking EurOcean (Ex. Seadatanet; BONUS,...) • Because of the dificulty of “upgrading” in terms of new functionalities, the present database • Because of the need of a more integrated communication structure with a more user-friendly interface • EurOcean decided to develope a • new structure for the RV’s database ERVO Meeting, Reykjavik 19-21 June 2006
Present Status of the RV’s DB (2) Main objective is to ensure a cross-matrix approach to the existing metadirectories (cruise reports, exchangeable intruments, etc) • 3 Components: • (phase 1) Specifications of the RV’s • (phase 2) Real Time position • (phase 3) Ship Schedule • Extra component: • A specific electronic Forum of discussion associated with the DB for the RV’s theme ERVO Meeting, Reykjavik 19-21 June 2006
