  4. Legislative Intent Taxpayer investment in Federal facilities must be protected and leveraged through the cost savings involved in maximizing building performance. Achieving this level of performance requires a government-wide program that stresses training and continuing education in the implementation of industry best practices and lifecycle operations and management.   5. Developing the Curriculum O&M Energy Management Safety Design Sustainability Water Efficiency Performance Measures The operation and management of High-Performance Buildings Recommend a Curriculum for: Identify Core Competencies (CC) for:

Continuous Improvement Built In The Law’s requirement for the Core Competencies and Curriculum to be updated annually,builds in the mechanism that will be used to push state-of-the-art knowledge, skills and abilities into our facilities workforce. By continuously consulting with industry, government and academia.

Key Requirement • Working with Industry and Government: • Indentify courses, certifications, degrees, licenses and registrations that demonstrate each core competency and for ongoing training. *The recommended method for demonstrating core competencies is through recognized Industry credentials.

  11. Safety A subcommittee has been established at FACOSHA to work on Federal Building Personnel Training Act core competencies. This initial program release focuses on the facility level safety core competencies established with Agency Safety Program Managers.

Developing the Curriculum in consultation with… KEY TERM: “RECOMMENDED” • With that in mind, the curriculum had to meet the following: • Must align with, and compliment identified core comps • Must provide KSAs with significant impact on FBPTA goals • Must have high probability of acceptance and utilization **The courses in the curriculum DO NOT represent demonstration of CC.

  21. Final deliverables form the Act Next Steps Develop the certification method for contractors to demonstrate CC. Develop or identify comprehensive continuing education courses to operation according to industry best practices and standards.
