Inchon • U.S. troops become involved heavily and under General MacArthur make a daring landing in Inchon
Surprise! • Surprise tactic works and the North Koreans are pushed back quickly
Chinese/Soviet Involvement • Americans were warned to stay away from the Yalu region, or risk an all out war with China and the Soviet Union
MacArthur • MacArthur believed the Chinese were bluffing and kept going- bringing the Chinese and Soviets into the war….oops!
You’re outta here! • Truman fired MacArthur for not listening and for sending a letter to a Congress- man criticizing Truman’s decision making abilities.
End • After a see-saw battle, the war finally ended in July 1953 at the 38th Parallel and a more than 2 mile demilitarized zone.
