What we want to achieve …….. Our mission is : Encourage Sections/Chapters to organise collaborative technical activities like workshops and seminars. To encourage collaboration among various Sections for better regional cohesion. Support Students Activities Chair in providing assistance to Technical activities like Workshops/Seminars organised by the Student members Prof. M. M. Shah, TAC
Technical Activities Report Call letter had been issued in the first week of February 2007 to Sections/ Chapters soliciting from them intentions/proposals to arrange Colloquia in the year 2007 Two proposals have been received, One from Calcutta Section (for Dec. 2008) and the second from Bombay Section (for Nov. 2007). The Bombay Section has arranged the Colloquium on 4th and 5th Feb 2008. Prof. M. M. Shah, TAC
Call letter ……. • The IEEE Region 10 Technical Activities Committee is soliciting forproposals from councils, sections, and chapters which may be interestedto host the IEEE Region 10 Colloquium in 2007 and 2008.The objective of the Colloquium is to bring international and localexperts to speak on an emerging technology that will have strongeconomic impact to the region, the hosting country or the hosting city.This event was initiated in 2003. The first colloquium with the theme ofBroadband Access - Technology and Market was hosted on 21 and 22 October2004 in Singapore by the Communications Chapter and LEOs Chapters ofSingapore Section, in cooperation with a few local organizations.Information on this colloquium is available at http://www.ntu.edu.sg/ntrc/IEEER10InfocommColloquium/index.htm • Those who are interested to submit a proposal may use this event as areference. ……………….. General guidelines ….. .Colloquium speakers shall consist of a mixture of distinguished research scientists, engineers or professors within and outside the region. IEEE Region 10 shall support the budget for speakers’ travel expenses while the host shall bear all the other expenses. Registration fees can be charged to defray the cost and generate profit. A percentage of the profit, if any, should be returned to IEEE Region 10. Prof. M. M. Shah, TAC
