MDTL Refurbishment“Working Procedures” Jamie Blowers
Items being addressed • Independent Review report issue #7: “MDTL does not maintain formal spill cleanup or evacuation procedures. These should be developed for whatever location is allowed to perform these types of procedures…” • The emergency response procedures are not part of this presentation, but the technical procedures identified in section 4 of Proposed Plan to Resume Use of HF are. The proposal to create these technical procedures arose from the lack of documented safety procedures. HF Usage Resumption at TD-MDTL
Motivation • Primary motivation for having documented procedures is human safety. • Documented procedures, along with the training, will help to ensure that everyone performing the work understands what is required of them. • Documented procedures also serve as good training material. Strategy • Start by identifying the different processes already being performed (e.g. BCP, EP). • These were identified in section 4 of Proposed Plan to Resume Use of HF • We chose to make them all self-contained, i.e. they include all the details (no pointers to speak of) • This includes PPE, MSDSs, emergency responses, required training • And of course, these are controlled documents HF Usage Resumption at TD-MDTL
Document Control • The principle purpose of document control is to provide a mechanism for knowing which document is the most recent approved version (i.e. the “latest and greatest”). • Document ID, Formal approvals • Revision history • This helps ensure human safety. HF Usage Resumption at TD-MDTL
