  1. CTOS update 11/4/2006 ACOSOG Z9041/SWOG 0344 A Phase II Surgical Trial of Intralesional Resection of Low-Grade Intracompartmental Chondrosarcoma of Bone

  2. Entry criteria • Low grade chondrosarcoma • Radiologic- 2 but no more than 4 of: • Permeative medually bone (tumor around trabeculae • Endosteal scalloping > 50% cortex • Cortical thickening • Expansion of bone • Positive uptake on bone scan • Age > 18 years • No prior surgery (other than bx)

  3. Treatment • Manual curettage • High speed burr • Contrast study of cavity • Adjuvants: Liq N2, phenol, ethanol, or argon beam • Fill cavity w/ cement or bone graft • Surveillance f/u

  4. Timeline • Activated in SWOG 12/1/2004 • Activated in ACOSOG 4/2005 • Open sites: • 1/14/2005: 20 • 6/23/05: 49 • 10/30/06: 55
