5. Where did they joust? • Jousting took place all over Europe. • from England to Germany, from France to Spain • there were stadiums built just for jousting and other medieval games of the time.

How Did it Work? • Jousting, also known as tilting, is a martial competition between two mounted knights • The knights were often each equipped with three weapons; a lance, and a one-handed sword • When one knight knocked the other off his mount, he was declared the winner of the round. • If both knights were knocked off their mounts at the same time, it was considered a tie; they would then engage in sword combat, and the last standing was victorious. • if neither fell off their mounts the knight whose lance was broken the most was the winner • The knights usually jousted in a best two out of three system.
