How does it happen? • Progeria is caused by mutations in the LMNA gene. • The LMNA provides instructions for the protein called Lamin A, Mutations will cause making cells more likely to die prematurely. • Progeria is an autosomal dominant, premature aging syndrome • There is no inheritance pattern it doesn’t get passed down by family.
Symptoms • Baldness- you can recognize it if you don’t have any hair. • Thinness- You can recognize it especially because you can see your bone structure on the outside of your skin. • Lost of eyebrows and eye lashes. • Beaked nose

Who gets it and how common is it? • It does not matter what sex or ethnicity you are. • Only 1 out of 4 million babies get it. • Only 130 has got it since 1886
Is it Deadly? • It is deadly because it gives the person that has it a prematue aging and it will give them a weak body. It will make a 4 year old like like an 80 year old. Also it gives you really bad heart condition. People usually die in their teens from a stroke or other heart disese.
Is there a cure? • There is no cure yet • However some children with progeria have undergone coronary artery bypass surgery to ease the life-threatening cardiovascular complications caused by progressive atherosclerosis.
