  1.  Proper oral hygiene can help prevent diseases and it can boost your confidence, appearance and sense of comfort.  Preserving good oral hygiene is not something that you can do single-handedly.  Here is a list of oral hygiene do’s and don’ts that you can practice at home.  Follow them to ensure that your oral hygiene is in top-notch shape.

  2.  Do’s  Brush twice every day • Ensure that you utilize a soft-bristled brush since hard ones can damage your gums and wear down the enamel.  Floss daily • You might miss out on some food particles while brushing the teeth, particularly the ones that are stuck between your teeth and so you need to floss them.  All-around dental hygiene • Besides flossing and bruising, you need to scrape or brush the tongue as well. You can easily kill bacteria that cause oral diseases by using an antiseptic mouthwash.  Be considerate about your diet • Calcium is vital for healthy and strong teeth and so you need to ensure you eat calcium-rich foods such as spinach and kale.  Visit your dentist once in 6 months • Visiting your dentist helps keep your mouth clean and ward off gum disease and preserve oral health.

  3.  Don’ts o Avoid brushing right after a meal • If you happen to brush too early after eating, you may be spreading acid and harming the teeth enamel, potentially. o Stay away from sugary content • The acids present in soft drinks can cause harm to tooth enamel. Sugar enhances the risk of plaque and causes tooth decay. o Never ignore pain • Mouth pain or toothaches can be a symptom of much larger issues. • You need to visit your dentist immediately if you have pain. o Stop using your old brush • Old toothbrushes have frayed or dull bristles and might have harmful bacteria. You need to change them every3-4 months. o Don’t do things alone • You can practice good routines at home but you need to also trust your dentist to help prevent potential problems before they develop into painful issues.
