Origin • Given the complexity of the environment we started to explore different avenues by which to do a full environment restore • We wanted a complete duplicate environment in which we could rehearse the restore periodically. • As always price was a factor, so we settled on Azure since we could just shut off the machines when we weren’t using them • We wanted somewhere to test patches B2B TECHNOLOGIES | PRESENTATION

Azure Setup Azure setup • The client already had an O365 subscription, so we were able to hook the account to that instance of Azure AD and use organizational accounts. • The new Azure Account came with a $200 credit which covered just about the entire environment set up.   6. Azure Setup Azure setup • Set up a virtual network • Specified private IP space • Created storage account • Copied Domain Controller VHD to Azure using the powershell tools. • Set the VHD as a Windows bootable disc B2B TECHNOLOGIES | PRESENTATION

Azure Setup Azure setup • Created the machine for the DC • Attached it to the previously created disc • Set the IP via powershell • get-azurevm -ServiceNameservicename-name machinename|Set-AzureStaticVNetIP-IPAddress###.##...|Update-AzureVM • Configured the virtual network to point to that IP for DNS • Created all the machines B2B TECHNOLOGIES | PRESENTATION

Environment Setup Environment SetUp • Created machines with appropriate specs • Joined the machines to the domain and duplicated the permissions in the source environment. • Installed SQL and duplicated permissions in the source environment. • Installed DocAve Manager and agents and restored/connected to control database. • Installed SharePoint B2B TECHNOLOGIES | PRESENTATION

  10. Restore Process restore SetUp • Use DocAve Data Manager to import the Platform Backup • Go through the Platform Backup Process • Restore databases • Connect to farm • Restore index • Optionally go back and restore WFE settings etc. B2B TECHNOLOGIES | PRESENTATION
