Mission: • S3IDF’s mission is: • To provide infrastructure and related services to the poorest of poor. • To facilitating finance, business development and technical services • To Promote the concept of : • Renewable Energy Technology (RET) • Use Energy-Its Efficient • Water • Telecommunication • RuralTransportation and • Rural Development through livelihoods.

S3IDF as Social Merchant Banker • S3IDF has developed the “Social Merchant Banker Model”, to train Local Entrepreneurs (LE) in technical and managerial skills • To assist in setting up a Sale cum Service Enterprise to deploy lighting and cooking implements. • To provide livelihoods through various skill development programmes to get value addition to the products and enterprise setting assistance from concept to commissioning.

Technology Selected • S3IDF does not develop or demonstrate a specific Renewable Energy Technology. • S3IDF selects appropriate Technology for each need and tries the best Deployment methodologies. • It identifies the optimal combination of practices for universal and accelerated adoption of RETs. • Adopts proven as well as evolving technologies for deployment in clusters of rural habitations. • Clusters selected would be a Mandal or selected villages within a Mandal • Proven Technologies selected for deployment would include: • Solar LED Home-lights • Solar LED Home Lighting Systems • Solar LED Hawker Lights • Solar LED Street lights • Solar LED Study Lights for Students • Evolving models of Improved Cook Stoves (ICS)

Contributions by S3IDF – to the Energy Service Centres (ESCs) & Energy Development Centres (EDCs) Enterprises: S3IDF deploys the RET devices Through ESCs & EDCs It gives the business plan for each entity under the project and assists in modifying the business plan from time to time to suit the requirements. Provides training and capacity building to the Executives and Staff of Enterprises. Identifies the best sources of supply of technology and raw-materials as required. Assists in the negotiations with the bank and suppliers. Provides continuous business development suggestions. Provides “hand holding” assistance till the business entities are able to look after their interest by themselves.

S3IDF Partners • S3IDF India has no partners. • S3IDF, however has very close association and avails of the services of the following Institutions: • Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI) for Intellectual & Management Guidance • SELCO(India) for Technical Assistance on Renewable Energy • Thrive Energy Technologies (TET) for Technical Assistance on Solar PV • NextEra Energy Resources (NEERU) for biogas plant construction and operations. • KSK Energy Ventures Private Limited for Action Research Programmes. • 3. Besides these, S3IDF draws specific advice and guidance on specific issues from: • Indian Institute of Science Bangalore- “Centre for Sustainable Technologies ’’  (CST). • Centre for Scientific Research (CSR) Centre, Auroville- Pondicherry.

Expected Outcomes • Fulfilling a Felt Need in rural areas for Infrastructure services. • Involvement and Commitment of Civil Society in Emission Reduction Issues. • Huge Increase in the awareness of GHG Emission Consequences and Climate Change Impacts. • Minimum 50% reduction in GHG Emissions is anticipated in 3 years. • Large increase in Green Cover in the village wastelands and common property resources.

The Action plan of S3IDF is • Improving the service quality of electricity distribution system by local franchisee. • Providing Public Lighting system based on Solar PV LED Street Lighting and Hawker Lighting. • Providing Solar PV standalone lights have lighting systems. • Providing efficient cook stoves and clean energy in households schools and hospitals. • And also propagating Biogas Plants.

  18. S3IDF under the “Social Merchant Banker Model”, where local entrepreneur is trained in Technical and Managerial skills and enabled to set up a sales cum service enterprises for improving livelihoods has helped many so far.

Our Request to Banks & Financial Institutions • Help us to help people by: • Financing to Local Entrepreneurs (LE) for deployment of RET products. • Assist in setting up livelihood activities taken up by Women and Youth especially in rural areas. • Facilitate the training programmes in selected skills to promote our objectives. • Suggest activities to help us in achieving our goals in harmony with your Programmes.
