THE GREEN GAMES By: Tati Gervase, Megan Chambers Ginger Johns, & Christen Davis Pic of all of us with shirts .
Our Project • The project was local • Inform the kids about recycling and reusing • Wanted to show them what you can do with recycling products other than recycle. Ex. Games
Planning • Our two top ideas was Green Games and a tax break • We decided on Green Games because it seemed more plausible for our short time span • After we decided that, we called Mrs. Roenker, the head PE teacher to talk about when to do it and what we wanted to do, and if we could do it at Providence. • Obviously, she said yes! We were always focused
The Day Before • Prep on Martin Luther King Junior Day • Made Recycling dog tags for kids • Recycling dig! • Gathered, collected and prepped the recycling materials
Crab Walking to Recycle • 1 hula hoop in the center, and six equal distance hula hoops from the center • Middle had a bunch of recycling products • Kids had to crab walk from their designated hula hoop to the center one
Recycling Basketball • Three recycling cans were out • Kids threw the newspaper balls into the cans • Whichever group got the most in the amounted time period wins!
Throw the Recycling • Voted the best game! • Two mats set up in a zig-zag • Half the kids on one side, half on the other • Throw the recycling products at each other • TAKE A SHOWER!
THANKS! • Thanks goes out to the staff atProvidence Elementary for letting us use their teaching time for us to do our project. • We also thank the teachers on the Cambridge team who helped guide us to doing this cool and entertaining project. Couldn’t havedone it without you!
Reflection • Problems: • We didn’t have enough materials • Timing the stations were off, because we were wrapped up in our activity • One game ended too quickly/was too easy for the kids • Results: • The kids enjoyed it and we believe they throughly learned something • We hope they will spread the word about recycling and reusing to their friends, family an peers!
Thanks ~The Green Team
