  1. virulent – adj. Definition: Extremely poisonous; hateful Example: The venom of the copperhead is virulent and can kill you within a few minutes.

  2. Contemptuous - adj. Definition: Disrespectful; regarding someone or something as inferior. Example: Sadly, in our country’s history, white people were contemptuous toward black people and wouldn’t allow them the same rights and privileges.

  3. enigma - noun Definition: A mystery; a puzzling or inexplicable occurrence or situation. Example: Even though I once was a teenager, they are enigmas to me now; I sometimes cannot understand what goes through their minds.
