  3. Media Images • What are common images of the military in the media? • How do these ideas shape public perceptions? • What stereotypes do civilians have of service members/veterans?

  4. Images and Ideas • What stereotypes/gaps in knowledge about veterans currently exist on campuses? • What would you like the campus community to know about veterans/military members? • How can campuses bridge the gap between vets/service members and non-military staff and students?

  5. Internalized Images • Brainstorm: What image do you have of who a warrior/service member is supposed to be? • What standards do these ideas create for you?

  6. “Measuring Up” • Is it possible to live up to the standards for warriors back in the civilian world? • Do those standards apply? • What happens if a veteran feels s/he can’t live up to the warrior ethos? • How can a veteran create new standards? • Who can help?
