  2. What are We Up To? • Forecasting • Meteorological Instrumentation • Committee Planning • Social Events • Fund Raisers

TWICE DAILY BROADCASTING (BEGINNING MONDAY SEPT 13th) • Those who are in or have completed METR 3245 have first preference • Those who have not will be able to “co-anchor” • Podcasts: Pre-recorded, saved, and moved into the scheduled playlist on shuffle. • Will also be played when news updates are made. • 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday • Previous day’s climate report (8:00am only) and three-day forecast • Other weather related facts (i.e. drought monitor, local storm reports, etc. WHEN NECESSARY)

  4. High Responsibility • You will be given key-card access to the Student Media office • Think of this as an actual job, if you miss more than 2 broadcast – you’re out.

  5. Format: 1) "This is ____ representing the Student Organization of Meteorology at UNCC with your local weather."2) "Yesterday......."3) Three day/weekend outlook...4) "Stay tuned for your next update @ xx:xx am/pm"

  6. The University Times • Must be in or completed METR 3245 • Those who have not must work with a partner • Published Tuesdays and Thursdays • Will consist of: • National Temp • Regional map with higher resolution and cities • Brief forecasts • Tuesday: 3-day forecast • Thursday: 5-day forecast

Atmospheric Sounding • Weather Balloon Launch • Friday, October 9th 2010 ~ 9am • Monroe Airport with Dr. Chadwick • STORM will be designing, engineering, and constructing our own instrumentation. • Temperature and dewpoint sensor both inside and outside instrument • Altimeter • Digital camera • GPS • *Equipment supplied by Dr. Chadwick • Anyone can attend, it’s FREE!

  10. Social Event: Friday, October 16th @7:00pm • Vs. Scranton Penguins • Tickets ~ $6.50 if we buy in packages *Contact: Laura Park (lpark3@uncc.edu)

  11. Saturday, September 25th. • 6:00pm – 9:00pm; clean up • Need a MINIMUM of 15 people to sign up • Earns STORM $150

  12. Saturday and Sunday October 16th-17th • ~ 10 people can work • Minimum 4 hour shift • approximately $8/hour directly deposited to the STORM account • You get to watch the race for FREE
