Series 1: “Meaningful Use” for Behavioral Health Providers From the CIHS Video Series “Ten Minutes at a Time” Module 3: Core Objectives/Measures for Behavioral Health Providers Part 1- Objectives 1 through 7 9/2013
Module 3, Part 1 Overview • Key terms and concepts (including the “Exclusion Rule”) • Core Objectives and Measures 1 through 7 from the perspective of the Behavioral Health provider • Multiple links to online resources
Key Terms/Concepts • Unique patient • Patient seen one or more times, only counted once during the EHR reporting period • Used for arriving at the denominator in many of the measures • Attestation • Some measures require that the EP confirm that certain EHR functionality has been enabled and is in use • Exclusion Rule • Not all measures can be met by every EP, due to different types of practices and patients. These types of measures have an “exclusion” rule that excludes the EP from having to meet that particular Objective. Each application of the exclusion rule reduces the total number of Core Objectives that must be met.
