  2. Biography • Born: in Paris January 15, 1622 • Birth name: Jean-BaptistePoquelin • After a year and a half in Paris the company failed and had to break up Molière was twice imprisoned in the Châtelet for debt

  3. Biography continued… • Bejart and he left Paris to try their luck in provinces, on the road for 12 years mainly South. • For 5 out of 12 years they joined the company headed by Du Fresne, of the Ducd’Epernon in Guyenne. • Molière created a company with Madeline Béjart .

  5. -Sganarelle and Madame Pernelle both want everything to go their way, and they are a bit controlling. -In both plays there is a guy named Valére who is in love with another and she is supposed to marry someone else. -Both take place in Paris.
