Payment By Results (PBR) • The aim of PBR: • Provide a transparent, rules based system for paying trusts • Reward efficiency • Support patient choice • Encourage activity for sustainable waitng time reductions • Payment linked to activity and adjusted for casemix.
Translation • The cost of activity is the same wherever the patient is treated • We only pay providers for activity received • The patient can choose where and when they are treated • Allows primary care services to be developed • Aims to provide more and better services in more convenient locations for the population
