KS4 Careers – structure reminder • 10s: Work Experience (Feb) • 11s: Options (Jan) Both involve • PSHE in several blocks throughout the year • Separate processes (with deadlines) • 1-on-1 support meetings (CRU 10s / MDR 11s) • + workshops for year 10s
Make the most of meetings • Only 1-2 all year, 20 minutes each • Do prior paperwork in registration (or you will lose most or all your time on it) • Think before you arrive about • pre-discussed (PSHE / workshop / meeting / this) • questions you want to ask • possibilities / ideas / routes / obstacles • sharing thoughts with parents FIRST • levels / grades / salaries / realism • BOOK YOURSELF (11s) or wait until told (10s)
Brief pressure reminders • the decline of the West • the rise in global educational standards • the competitive lower-salary marketplace • no more pensions, worker rights or retirement • barely affordable housing and • healthcare? • education? • food?
