Opened 2005 Years 1 to 6. Decile 2 254 students 54% Pakeha 32% Maori 11% Pacific 3% other 48% Girls 52% Boys First four school merger. Senior students relocated off site for most of the first two terms. Building programme - school hall, car park administration block. Ongoing capital works has placed considerable pressure on the principal and trustees -ERO 2006 Leadership Challenges 2 ERO visits in 10 months New River Primary School…

They have increased responsibility and leadership opportunities in the school. Playground zones and a house system has increased students’ opportunities to take leadership roles in sports and cultural activities. What the kids said to ERO Senior students consider that behaviour has improved and they now have increased pride and a sense of belonging in their school. They helped develop the school rules and support the learning of their peers both in classrooms and in the playground.
