  4. Make a list of things we could prove about crooks based on the evidence • This is like what we did with Curley’s Wife and our topic posters

  8. HOW DO WE TURN SOMETHING FROM THE LIST INTO A CLAim? • One conclusion a reader can draw about Crooks is_____________________________________.

  9. Does the claim work? • Does the claim require “reading between the lines” (NOT directly stated)? • Is there evidence from the text to support/prove the claim? • Are there several pieces of evidence supporting the claim?

  10. FIND EVIDENCE • Put a star next to three pieces of evidence you have that PROVES YOUR CLAIM.
