Parental Involvement • After Prom. • PTO – Meets the 3rd Wednesday of the month – 9:30 a.m. at the high school. • First meeting is August 20th at 9:30. • You can stay informed by: • Websites, Listservs, contact PTO board members. • Cerkl – coming soon!

Student Handbook • Electronic devices are permitted at school. • WE MUST BE RESPONSIBLE WITH SOCIAL MEDIA: • Cell phones must be put away during any assessments – quizzes, tests, etc. – unless the teacher has given permission. • Cell phones are permitted to be used before and after school or at lunch. • ONLY WITH TEACHER PERMISSION should a cell phone be used at other times. • Please read pages 13 and 22 of the handbook.
Managing a Digital Footprint • “Publishing” on any on-line site lives forever. • Publish only those things that you would want to see on the front page of the paper. • Publishing in jest, or to get back at someone, can backfire. • Permission of the other person should be obtained before publishing. • Colleges and employers search social media sites before making decisions to accept and hire people.
Managing Social Issues • DIGNITY, VALUE, and WORTH – we all have it! • RESPECT – we should all give it! • Social issues occur: on-line, in the halls, through text, face-to-face, before, during, and after school. • Conflict is a part of being human. • Ask for help if conflicts arise. • You can only control you! • Report any incidents to a teacher, counselor, Mr. Kimling, or Mr. Olson. • Safe School Line - 1-866-547-8362 or 1-866-listen2me.

The PE Waiver • If a student completes 2 Seasons of the following activities – his/her PE requirement will be “waived”: • Marching Band and Color Guard. • Cheerleading. • Any interscholastic sport – grades 9-12. • It is “all or nothing” - no partial waiving. • The waiver does not equal “credit.” • Application available on-line and in Guidance.
Important Dates to Know • Back to School Night – August 26th. • Picture Day – August 29th. • PSAT – October 15th. • Conferences begin on October 23rd. • First quarter ends on October 17th. • March 16 - 20 - OGT week (Sophomores).
