  2. Physical Description Scientific Name : Chameleonidae The body of a Chameleon is short and flat. Chameleons from 3.2-63cm. As many as three horns grow will grow from the head of the chameleon. The eyes stick out and function independently,so that the animal can look forward and backward at the same time. A chameleons feet grasp like hands rather than cling with sharp claws,as do those of most other lizards. World Book Encyclopedia C-Ch .3 pg.372 2006 edition

  4. Interesting Facts About The Chameleon • A female Chameleon lays 30 to 40 eggs yearly and they keep the eggs inside their bodies until they’re ready to hatch. • 2. The males establish feeding territories, which they defend by trying to out bluff their rivals. • 3.Males of the tree dwelling species of Chameleons rarely come to the ground. However, females of many species dig nests for the 30 or 40 eggs that they lay yearly.

  5. Interesting Facts Page 2 4. They puff out their throat and the rest of their body to look bigger in an attempt to scare away other males. 5. A Chameleon shoots out it’s tongue to capture a bug.   7. Habitat There is 80 species of Chameleon most of which live in Africa to Southern Sahara including Madagascar. One species,the common chameleon, ranges from the Middle East along the coast of North Africa to Southern Spain.
