3. When a youth dies , it is not just the loss of a child but the end and loss of generations which would have been birthed through him. This project is not aimed at stopping knife crime alone but to reduce crime generally perpetrated by youth from low-income areas in London to the barest minimum. MULTIPLE EDGED SWORDS

4. KNIFE CRIME IN 2018 AS A CASE STUDY Distribution of Stabbings in London as at 12th December, 2018 This year alone, knife crime has surged by 16% in London even as the crime epidemic continues. Excluding those killed in terror attacks like London Bridge, Westminster and Manchester, there was still a 12% rise in murders — the highest numbers in a decade. A glut of cocaine flooding the country has been partly blamed for the country's violent crime.

5. WHY KILL ANOTHER YOUTH There are many reasons why someone might decide to carry a knife. A common reason is for protection, but others include – out of fear, for revenge, because of peer pressure, to gain respect or be cool or to steal or intimidate. Gang or drug related. Many of those who carry a knife develop a fuse to violence. Here are some factors which have been shown to influence some young people’s decision to carry a weapon. HOME OPPORTUNITIES DIFFICULTIES AT SCHOOL Violence amongst young people appears to be the hardest to resolve in areas of poverty and discrimination. A lack of opportunities sometimes leads to individuals choosing to make money illegally, when weapons are commonly used for self-defense. • Young people experiencing educational problems appear to see themselves as particularly vulnerable to knife-related incidents. Research has indicated that children who suffer abuse, or grow up in a hostile atmosphere, might be more at risk of taking part in violence.

6. SOCIAL MEDIA APPLICATIONS LOCATION GENDER • Social media applications such as YouTube, Snapchat, Instagram etc. can also be blamed for the soaring rate of knife crime particularly among children. Rival groups can set out to goad each other on the internet, also children and youths can access crimes and attacks on social media applications. • People admitted to hospital because of assault are more likely to be young men living in deprived neighbourhoods. • Knife-related violence has been shown to be more frequent in large urban areas.

7. ACT OF VIOLENCE AND DRILL MUSIC Nonetheless, because of the way that UK drill is networked via social media, leading some listeners to believe that they are the subjects of the taunting lyrics, there are valid worries that drill is not just reflecting criminality, but driving it. Gang violence is supposedly catalyzed by drill music – where members taunt each other in lyrical spats that, after being shared on social media, spill over into real-life violence. Music has long been the focus of moral panic – and the latest is over UK drill, a tough, often lyrically violent subset of British rap.

8. THE BIRTH OF REVOLVE PROJECT The intensity of crime especially among children and youths of Black origin requires an intervention that will reduce and eventually eliminate crimes associated with use of weapons, thus necessitating the birth of REVOLVE PROJECT. 9. MISSION MISSION MISSION MISSION VISION REVOLVE PROJECT is targeted at reducing and eventually eliminating knife crime in the City of London. 10. Brief • All stakeholders must do more to use opportunities to engage with young people and also identify and intervene with those at risk. • In light of the ills associated with knife crime within and around London, REVOLVE PROJECT will employ a variety of approaches towards our No Knife, Know Life intervention. • Below are some of the approaches that REVOLVE PROJECT will employ:

11. Youth Mentorship Masterclass • The majority of youths today are left to themselves and as such do not have carefully chosen role models to look up to. They do not have mentors to groom them as they grow into adults and as such, they end up imbibing a lot of garbage along the way. • The Mentorship Masterclass aims to galvanize youth to be more systematic and deliberate in living lives that are purpose driven and value centered. Revolve Project intend to create a platform where these young people will be mentored by achievers and celebrities in various industries across the world.

12. Skill Acquisition Class • Many young people are not developing the skills they need for the future. Over 790,000 are not in education or employment and employers are reporting they don’t have the right skills. • We work with young people before they become just another unemployment statistic and support them to develop the employability skills that employers demand, by delivering qualitative and enterprise programmesthat increases their value and give them higher advantage in the marketplace. 13. Sport Activities and Facilities • Many young people are not developing the skills they need for the future. 14. Music Recording Facilities/Studio • Music is one sector that fascinates children and youth, thus we will provide musical talent promotion facilities where youths can be endorsed and develop their interest/career. We intend to setup a world class musical studio and a live recording facility in the heart of London to cater for this.

15. Schorlarship Facilities • Together with our partners we will provide (varying levels of) scholarship opportunities for participating youth.

16. Enterprising-U • This program is created to provide for young entrepreneurs an avenue to get the needed knowledge to run a business successfully and also make available funds or help secure sufficient capital for start-ups and existing businesses .We aim to furnish them with adequate information to help conquer the event fear of life and set them on a pedestal for National, Business and Corporate Relevance. By 2021, we hope to have trained and funded at least 1500 youths within and outside London. We are already putting in place systems and strategies to make this a reality.

17. (Emotional/Psychological) Support Programmes for Parents • We acknowledge that parenting play a huge rule in the turn-out of children/wards, thus we will provide series of support programmes (seminars) for parents. This will involve family-focused programmes towards preventing gang involvement and youth violence.

18. Partnership with Youth Development Professionals • Working with and through professionals like psychotherapists, youth workers, counselors etc. this project will work towards the successful transition of participating youths into adulthood.

19. NoKnifeKnowLifeCampaign • We would consistently run online and offline campaigns that speak against the wrong use of the knife and how it is drastically reducing the number of young vibrant people. This project will center on coaching, counseling, teaching, tutoring, volunteering, role modeling, and advising as the role of the mentor is to serve as role model, champion, leader, guide, adviser, counselor, volunteer, coach and protector.

20. Young people can feel unsure or even uninterested in their future, thus lack of guidance and ambition can make young people vulnerable to social circles that promote anti-social values. At REVOLVE PROJECT, we believe that providing youths with first-hand capacity building opportunities anchored by successful adult icons and celebrities will both motivate and stir within participating youths the desire to imitate the successes of these icons. This structured mentoring project will ease the social, emotional, cognitive, and behavioral development of these teenagers and youths by continuously and consistently providing support and guidance. This development strategy will chart successful paths to adulthood for participating youths as well as provide them with the confidence; resources, continuity, and support they need to make right choices as well as achieve their potential. Why Youth Mentorship Master Class? Given that the more dependable individuals’ youth have in their lives, the more likely they are to develop external and internal assets—structures, relationships, values, skills, and beliefs that promote healthy development and lead to future success. This project will ensure mentors work with teenagers and youths to build positive relationship by offering guidance, support, and encouragement to cultivate constructive and healthy development of participants. Mentoring is one proven way of preventing criminal violent behavior. Research shows that at-risk youth who are connected to caring individuals are more likely to resist negative influences than their peers who are not in a supportive relationship. Mentoring programs help teenagers and youths to resist or mitigate the risk factors of violence and enhance skills that lead to healthy and positive lives, making them essential components of community development and nation building.

21. High-Quality Mentoring in REVOLVE PROJECT Our Project will adopt a high quality mentoring relationship that maximizes the development of positive behavior for participating youths. We will create meet and talk sessions with successful Black (African) Youths/People, who will be invited to educate and share their personal experiences with the participating youths. In furtherance to the educative and interactive session, we will build high-quality relationships with each of the participating youth by establishing goals and objectives; fostering support amongst others as shown in the Building High Quality Relationship in REVOLVE PROJECT framework. A mentoring relationship that includes these features will create a strong and meaningful connection that can positively influence the youth’s development and transition to adulthood, while improving communities and societies as a whole.

DESIRED/EXPECTED OUTCOME • Increase in youths’ self-confidence, self-efficacy and leading healthy lives • Successful school retention and graduation • Demonstration of constructive interpersonal and communication skills • Desirable change in attitude about the future • Reduction and eventual elimination of knife crimes • Transition to independent productive adults • Community and societal development

Today’s young people face an uncertain future. We intend to provide support for at least 250,000 young people yearly to realize their potential and become role models in their various communities.
