SWORD (School and WOrk-Related Dual learning) The SWORD project: an operational plan Kick-off meeting Autonomous Province of Trento Trento, December 18-19, 2014
Introduction We will now have a look at the whole project, and share its activities, products and outputs. In particular we focus on: • general objectives • reasons for this project • project management guidelines • expected results: intellectual outputs, multiplier events, training schemes • involvement of partners in the activities / tasks • costs and contributions
General Objectives SWORD will analyse existing models of Dual Learning (DL), aiming at bringing to a new, shared European approach. SWORD aims at identifying a model of DL foreseeing cross-national mobility processes and strengthening the transition from school to training and to Labour Market (LM). Within the SWORD project, the Province of Trento intend to: • Enhance the role of apprenticeship into the education and training offer; introducing accompanying forms for the transition of students to the LM; introducing an integrated system of curricular internships, summer internships and placement; • Identify local centres, able to combine training schemes and the production chain, to create networks among technical education, VET, vocational training, university and research, and enterprises.
Reasons for SWORD The general goal for Province of Trento, Province of Bolzano, the Region Friuli-Venezia Giulia and the area of Gdansk (represented by TNOIK) is to run a test of a model for the transition from school to the LM. Among the partners belonging to countries where Dual Learning Models is already used, Arbeit und Leben – Hamburg, as well as BFI Upper Austria, have been working for a long time together with other local players involved, on an assessment of the existing critical issues, especially in the transition from school to the LM. SWORD will merge these goals, in order to identify an innovative model of transition, by paying attention to the promotion of experiences which combine classroom training and enterprise training to develop professional skills, adequate to innovative labour market and research fields.
Project management The key issues are: • a partnership agreement, stating management strategies and partners' responsibilities; • a kick-off meeting, appointing the Project Steering Committee, the operational structure and the activities timeplan; • a clear subdivision of responsibilities among partners; the elaboration and distribution of a monitoring plan and the definition of feedback mechanisms connected to the decision moments; • a project logo and the activation and implementation of a dedicated website including a reserved work area for the partnership; • use of telephone, e-mail, skype and other telecommunication tools for constant contacts among partners; • partners meeting every six months, open to other stakeholders (coming from institutions, enterprises, research, education and training). First and last meeting in Trento, + 2 in Hamburg, 1 in Linz, 1 in Gdansk, and 1 in Trieste.
