  2. Education in the Czech Republic • Is compulsory for all children between 6 – 15. • The school year begins on 1st of September. • Students are evaluated by marks 1 to 5. • The Education in the Czech Republic is free, but there are some exceptions like pre-school education . • Student can choose between state school and fee paying school.

  3. Degrees of Czech school system • Pre-school education • Primary education • Secondary education • Higher education

  4. Pre-schooleducation • A nursery school is for children between the ages of 3 and 6. • Paid by parents, except the last year before entering elementary school. • Children are prepared for elementary school by educational plays and they learn a bit of writing and arithmetic too.

  5. Primary education • Compulsory education for children from 6 to 15. • Consists of nine grades divided to two stages. • There are many subjects (Math, Physics, History, Literature, Chemistry, Biology, etc.) which are compulsory for all pupils. • Pupils get the report of academic record at the end of the school year.

  6. Secondaryeducation • Is provided by these types of schools: • GRAMMAR SCHOOL - traditional literary and scientific education, prepares children for entry to universities ( to the age of 18). • SECONDARY SCHOOL – general education including a lot of practical subjects – Technical colleges, Business academies. • SECONDARY VOCATIONAL SCHOOL – technical education related to industry, commerce or agriculture.

  7. Highereducation • Consists of public, states (police, military) and private universities. • Bachelor‘s degree – first degree, usually for 3 years • Master‘s degree – usually for 2 years, upgraduate bachelor‘s degree • Doctorate- take at least 2 years • Students have to successfully pass the entrance examinations. • After graduation students get diploma. • Most renowned university is Charles University in Prague, founded in 1348.
