IP: Scientific Evidence in Patent Litigation Winter 2012 Prof. Morris 1/20/12 rev 0  Comparison of two Claim Ones in two Kastenhofer Patents: 5,843,032 and 6,027,477 Very little in these two claims is the same, and some similar things are in different places. That suggested a two column presentation, with ALL CAPS for words that appear in both claims and arrows pointing out words that appear in different places. If this were for real, rather than an example, I would separate out the language about the balloon to compare 'welded to the outer layer'with 'sealingly surrounded…'. Moral: Adapt the chart format to convey the most information about your two claims.
