  10. The majority of authors make less than $1,000 a year, according to a 2014 report from Digital Book World. Almost 80% of self-published authors and more than half of traditionally published authors earn less than $1,000 a year, according to the report. A little more than 40 percent of hybrid authors (both traditionally published and self-published) made less than $1,000 a year and not surprisingly 90 percent of the aspiring authors made nothing. The research revealed that only 10 percent of traditionally published authors made more than $20,000 a year and 5 percent of self-published authors made more than $20,000 a year. A WRITERS AVG ANNUAL INCOME

  11. NEXT  MEETING: •    June 25th,  2014 •       Beaches Regional LIBRARY (see  Slide  3) •       6:30-8:30PM FUTURE  AGENDA  IDEAS  & TOPICS = (email TS) HOMEWORK  ASSIGNMENT = SENTENCE  STARTERS   ( SEE NEXT PAGE) WRAP UP

  12. SENTENCE   STARTERS  (250 – 500  WORDS): He overturned tables, smashed furniture, bringing to a boil the full extent of his fury. The tiny craft shook violently as the engines signaled their fast and terribly inconvenient failure. He snapped the window shade shut, praying he wasn't noticed. It wasn't fair. The sharp crack of thunder overhead told Elizabeth that this was just the beginning of a long,  miserable  night. The clouds parted slightly and sunlight filtered down for the first time in what felt like  ages. They called her "the foreigner," and she knew why. The vicious snaps and guttural snarls were coming from around the corner. It  was a good day to die. What  the hell happened  here? Bam! A chill ran down my spine as I realized I stood in a puddle of blood. Oblivion was coming in a wooden box. HOMEWORK
