The ‘Activity Buddy’ • To provide additional support during sessions as required by the disabled person • To motivate, encourage, mentor and befriend to achieve their sporting aims/fitness goals • To help break down barriers to participation for disabled people The Activity Buddy will not be expected to: • Lift or carry the disabled participant • Coach or train within a session • Provide transport or • Assist in changing or attending to their personal care • Assist with or administer medication

  7. How can AABS work? • Use toolkit to set up volunteer programme • Use the resources as part of existing inclusive practices • Use online training to develop skills of new/existing volunteers • Disabled and non disabled people as volunteers • Upskill volunteers as volunteer coordinators
