  2. What do we want to do with ETAES? • Today : electronic storage of « paper » TA documentation • Tomorrow: • Electronic storage of electronic TA documentation (structured data) • Electronic storage of CoCs? • Connection with DETA? • Expansion to not only TA authorities? • Formal recognition of the ETAES system in EC Regulation? • ETAES as a « provider » for other systems: registration, technical inspection? UTAC for ETAES informal meeting - 8 March 2011 - Geneva

  3. Existing structure • Thanks to KBA initiative: • KBA developed IT infrastructure (software, servers…) • KBA runs the operational system • The set of users is « closed » and they trust each other • Risks are limited both for KBA and users • Informal rules are sufficient • Invoices made by KBA are sufficient UTAC for ETAES informal meeting - 8 March 2011 - Geneva

  4. Tomorrow • Enlargement of scope implies: • Definition of a strategy • Distinction between strategic an operational structures • Official recognition of ETAES implies: • Consideration of legal issues • Establishment of a legal structure • Extension to other users implies: • To define provider(s) and users responsibilities • To distinguish between « active » contributors and « passive » consumers • To establish formal rules of management of the system • Extension to other « activities » implies: • Capacity to communicate on behalf of ETAES • Capacity to make commitment on behalf of ETAES • Definition of a policy for financial resources UTAC for ETAES informal meeting - 8 March 2011 - Geneva
