2D barcodes 2D barcodes, also known as matrix codes are one of the latest innovations Great cities have seen in this an innovation an opportunity of improvement and raise awareness in the same time by implementing these devices in the most commercial possible use
What are the 2d barcodes? 2D barcode is a two-dimensional way of representing information. It is similar to a linear (1-dimensional) barcode, but has more data representation capability.
Where can we find 2D barcodes? • Magazines • Means of transport • Buildings • Streets • Bars, menus, restaurants
Types of 2D barcodes: • Aztec code • Cybercode • Datamatrix • EZcode • MaxiCode • QR code • Semacode • Maxicode
Most common uses: • encoding large amounts of data (mainly used in USA and Europe); • aerospace, electronic, and automotive industry • general logistic purposes, document management applications, postal services • medical / health industry • area of mobile marketing (since 2006/2007) .
Advantages of using 2D barcodes • incorporates a large amount of information on a small area, being a 2D barcode (two dimensional) • can be read by the scanner even if it is damaged • can be marked on the product tagging technology currently available (inkjet, laser, DOD, transfers) • is competitive in terms of costs
Position and location • Munuments - historical and cultural • Important buildings – The City Hall, The Theatre, cinemas • Restaurant, bar and café menus
Usage • Easy • Fast • Comfortable • Accessible to foreigners – different language chose • Example
Cost • Cheap – the generating program costs from 2600kr.
Process Reflection • During the team work on our project we had a great time. • We had smooth discussions and conversations. • We divided the work so that everyone had a job to do, suitable for his learning style.
Constructive and Creative Thinking • We used the most usefull tool to get the job done - "The Six Thinking Hats" • In the begining we had no idea what was that all about, that's why we usedsome white hat thinking by surfing through Internet looking for information about the 2d barcodes, how we can use them and what we could use them for. • Everyone had to think of his own idea with his green hat on the head. • There was some black hat thinking and we had to discuss if those ideas would work or if they will fit to a place like Odense. • Eventually we decided to combine the 2 best ideas into 1 while using green hat thinking to improve them. • And finally we summarized everything with the blue hat thinking.
