  2. What is comparison shopping? • Shopping for bargains by comparing the prices of similar items or brands or comparing the prices at different stores.  • To get a bargain, or get the best value, you must compare not only price, but quality as well.

  3. Unit pricing will help with comparison shopping.What is unit pricing? • Unit pricing is figuring the price per unit—such as • per ounce • per pound • per individual item (such as an egg that comes in a carton of a dozen, or one soda that comes in a 12 pack)

  4. Let’s try unit pricing! (Yay!)(You may use a calculator) Which is the better bargain? • 2 pounds of bananas for $1.00 • OR • 3 pounds of bananas for $2.00? To find the answer, divide the cost by the amount to find the price per unit:

  5. Which is the better deal/bargain? • $1.00 divided by 2  = .50 per Pound • $2.00 divided by 3  = .67 per Pound
