Camera obscurarequires a light tight box (camera body) and something to focus the light (lens) • We use a camera sensor to record the image • But there needs to be something to protect the sensor from being exposed until we are ready to take the picture – the shutter • AND we need some way to see what we are taking a picture of – a mirror and pentaprism Put it all together
The mirror and pentaprism is why dSLRs are called that – digital single lens reflex • The mirror reflects (reflex) the image through a single lens dSLR
