Who We Are & What We Do • IT Services provides technology leadership, planning, and a wide range of services supporting UAA’s activities. Services include communications (voice, video, high performance data/messaging networks); computing infrastructure (high availability hosting services); core applications, distributed learning delivery systems/support; and support services including Call Center, audio visual, distance education, video conference, desktop/computer, telephone, and computer labs.
IT Call Center: 786-4646 • If you don’t know who to call concerning a technology issue…one call does it all! • Option 1: Elive, Blackboard, or computer technology questions • Option 2: Audio visual, smart classroom support, or video conferencing • Option 3: Distance education student support • Option 4: Service Interruption Reporting • Option 5: Telephone related issues, trouble tickets, and billing • Option 6: Faculty Evaluation Software • Technicians will troubleshoot, resolve issues, create trouble tickets and/or work order requests, escalate as appropriate • Call Center Hours of Operation: M-F, 6am – Midnight & Weekends/Holidays, 8am – 5pm
Email • Email Services • Student, staff, & faculty requirements • Gateway Mail Service - Google: http://www.alaska.edu/google • Microsoft Exchange & Web Access: http://owa.uaa.alaska.edu • Mailing Lists: Available to faculty and staff; online form; must be used for university business • Dynamic Lists • Static Lists (other than an Outlook mailing list) • Anti-spam services
AV Equipment • Available equipment: • DVD/VCRs • Data/video, 16mm film, 35mm slide, and overhead projectors • Document cameras • LCD monitors • Audio conveners • Reservations: administrative & instructional use (first-come, first-serve) • Deliveries to main campus & University Center • Equipment maintenance and repair • Training & consultation
Video Conference • Available for instructional, administrative and university sponsored events • IP based video commonly referred to as H.323 conferencing • Conferences can be point-to-point or multi-point • Boardroom and cart units distributed on campus • Event scheduling and on-site technical support • Consultation, design, implementation, and training services available
Telephone & Audio Conference • IT Services currently owns and maintains the Cisco Call Manager for VOIP (voice over IP) service. • Basic telephone service • Equipment sales • Long distance PINs & calling cards • Caller ID available on specific telephone handsets (no charge); standard on VOIP phones • Moves, adds, changes • audio conference contractual service (Encounter Collaborative) • Consulting services • Telephone directory publication • Campus Operator 786-1800: (hours of operation: Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm)
Desktop Support • Troubleshooting, maintenance and repair services; university workstations & personal computers. • Consultation for new computer purchases. • Services available to all UAA faculty, staff and students. • Initiate requests through the IT Call Center. • FY13 rates: $85 per hour, one hour minimum • Apple, Dell, & Microsoft certified repair shop
Hosting • All university affiliated organizations are eligible • Administrative Departments • Academic Departments • Student Clubs • Institutes • Research Centers • Any official university-sponsored organization • Content Management System (CMS) • General Web Hosting
Campus Open Computer Labs • Five Locations to service students, faculty & staff: • Commons 105 • Student Union 211 • Sally Monserud Hall 111 • University Center 126 • Consortium Library 210 • Software: Microsoft Office, Visio, Project, SPSS, AutoCAD (only @ UC and SMH), and many more….. • Managed Print Service • More info at: http://technology.uaa.alaska.edu/computer/labs Computer Lab Consultants are available to provide technical assistance.
Software Licensing • Microsoft Campus Agreement (MCA) –System-wide licensing • Media available, SSB 120; WAH w/supervisor approval • Symantec Antivirus – University System License • Download from Technology website or pick up a disk at SSB 120 • SAS • SPSS • AutoCAD • Ghost • Blackboard
Helpful Information • Student Evaluations/IDEA processed in our department; coordinated with Academic Affairs. • Planning conferences/events?
