Feedback on Anne Sampson’s visit to Croydon College 18 January 2011
Background to visit: • The Advanced Practitioner team have recently taken over the delivery of the DTLLS programme in the college, in addition to delivering in their own vocational area and supporting course teams across college to improve teaching and learning as a whole.
The AP team wanted advice on: • Using REFLECT to record their own CPD • Using REFLECT as part of the delivery of Modules 8 CPPD and 10 Wider Personal and Professional Development on the DTLLS programme • Updates on Teacher Training Courses
Areas covered by Anne: • Overview of current developments in ITT with regulation moving from LLUK to BIS • Current review of the ITT course structure and consultation process • Changes to funding for IfL and impact on members re fees
Lack of parity between QTS and QTLS and recommendations to close the gap • Process for applying for QTLS: explained in great detail using IfL website • Using REFLECT for recording CPD, saving and sharing ASSETS
Evaluation: APs gave very positive feedback and found it very helpful for themselves and their teaching Anne allowed us to video her presentation for use in class and sharing with other teams
Follow-on benefits: • Two of us have registered as Volunteer Connections with IfL: http://www.ifl.ac.uk/get-involved/connections • One AP has attended a VC training and found it extremely useful. I have booked for the next one • Anne has responded promptly to a number of queries by email and is happy to answer individual questions
Future plans • Anne has set up a webfolio for the team through REFLECT which will enable us to share resources and ideas • Disseminate accurate information to our DTTLS trainees to advise them on CPD and QTLS
OVERALL VERDICT • AN EXTREMELY BENEFICIAL SESSION • HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
