Jesus Had to Go… Geographically Divinely The same wording is used elsewhere in the New Testament: Matt.16:21; Luke 2:49; 4:43; John 3:7, 14, 30; 9:4; 10:16; 12:34; 20:9; in all of these examples, it is translated as "must" in the ESV
Samaria The people of Samaria are called Samaritans Samaritans were considered "half-breeds;" they were in between the Jews and Gentiles in status 2 Kings 17:24-31 tells us how the King of Assyria brought foreign people to settle in the land (722 BC). There was intermarriage between those foreigners and some of the Jewish people who remained. Only used the Pentateuch (first 5 books of OT), not the prophets and writings that were available in Jesus' day. Had their own place of worship (Mt. Gerizim).
We can live for His glory so that we don't have to live for our own.
