LeatherbackTurtle(Tartaruga-de-couro) • Class: Reptilia • Order: Chelonia • Family: Chelonidae • Scientific Name: Dermochelyscoriacea • Common name: Leatherback Turtle • Category: Threatened • It is the largest of all sea turtles. It reaches 2 meters in length and over 500 kg. The Leatherback Turtles spend most of their life cycle on the high seas, feeding on floating organisms such as jellyfish. Has the ability to dive to over 1,000 meters deep, probably in search of prey. Just approach the coast to breed.
