  2. ONE CLASSIFICATION IS HEAVEY OR LIGHT INDUSTRY When we speak about secondary industries (manufacturing), we can classify the industries into many types.

  3. When we decide if an industry should be classified as Heavy or light, we have to look at each of the criteria separately, then make an informed decision

  4. Does it require a lot of raw materials? YES For example, making iron

  5. YES Does it require a lot of space to make iron?

  6. Can be… Are the goods or products that are made big and bulky?

  7. YES Does making iron create a lot of pollution?

  8. When we talk about heavy industries, we are usually talking about products that are not meant for the consumer (you) such as clothes, or radios, or tv’s. Heavy industries often produce materials that are used in other industries such as construction…

  9. Were these products produced by light industry or heavy industry?
