  2. Inuksuit are a gigantic part of Canadian culture. There are many different meanings. Each inukshuk has their own uniqueness.

  3. What they mean • The word “inukshuk” comes from the Inuit word meaning “likeness of a person”. • Inuksuit can mean many different things. They can mark a place of respect or to show direction. Inuksuit can be used for hunting, or to warn others of danger. They can also tell you that someone was here, and that you are on the right path.

  4. An inukshuk without arms means that, it is a cache (a hiding place for food). The longer arm on the inukshuk is the direction you go. If there is a peep hole in an inukshuk, and you look through it, you can see another inukshuk in the distance.

  5. What they look like • An inukshuk is stones piled one on top of the another. No two inuksuit are the same. Each inukshuk is as different as a fingerprint. Inutsuit can be small or large. They can be built of a single rock, or several rocks. The rocks or boulders can be round or flat unworked stones.

  6. Olympic Symbol • The inukshuk is the symbol for the Vancouver 2010 Olympics. The logo is a copy of a stone man, in the Inuit culture.A great example of human spirit is the inukshuk. For the inukshuk to be created, the rocks have to balance and support each other. If you take one stone out from an inukshuk, it would be demolished, this is the same with a team. It would not last.
