Close Reading: Gathering sources requires sifting through rigorous, nonfiction texts. • Technology: Students use technology to gather information (databases, internet), formulate and structure ideas (Noodletools), create content (Google sites, PowerPoint, iMovie, Wikispaces, etc.), and provide/receive feedback (blogs, forums) from teachers and peers. • Writing: Students must use stages of the writing process to formulate ideas and present information to a variety of audiences (community members, parents, peers, younger children, etc.) and in a variety of formats. • Interdisciplinary Instruction: Inquiry pushes students in different directions. environmental issues, legal topics, current events, popular culture, technical issues, sports, etc.
