The Screening Process • Narrows down the number of face-to-face interviews • Minimizes the expense of interviewing out-of-town candidates
Tip #2 - Use a landline Or make sure that you are in a spot in which you will not loose your signal. Do not drive while on a telephone interview!
Tip #4 – Make sure there are no distractions in the room. Turn off your call waiting
Tip #5 – No smoking, chewing gum, eating or drinking (but do have a bottle of water close by in case you do become dry-mouthed)
Tip #6 – Smile when you are talking • Believe it or not – smiling will project a positive image to the listener. It changes the tone of your voice.
Tip #7 – Speak slowly, and enunciate (put endings on the ends of your words) • Tip #8 – Always use the person’s title (Mr., Ms., Dr., … and their last name). Only use their first if they ask you to do so. • Tip #9 – Do not interrupt the interviewer • Tip #10 – Take your time answering the questions – and give short answers
