Slides (5 & 6) provide some key thoughts regarding the chapters on the CDC and Anoka-Hennepin SD. The goal of the PowerPoint is to help you with a preview of the documents used in the assignment and as a summary of our discussion in class. (Optional) Outline for Paper APA One Abstract that summarizes the paper for the reader Pages 1 & 2: cultural competency • Fun with Books • Briefly describe the program along with why and how it was evaluated • How did the evaluator gain cultural competency? • How would you develop cultural competency in a city that you were not familiar with? Pages 3 & 4: ECB • Compare and Contrast the ECB methods used in both organizations • What did the CDC do, what did the school district do? • What activities were similar and what was different? • What was effective and what did not work well, and explain why? • What methods for ECB would be appropriate for you to use in your district? • You can develop your own outline as long as it has all the requirements (slides 1 & 2) for the paper , uses APA and has an abstract.
CDC Why did evaluation become important to the CDC? What principles and procedures were used for ECB? What were the effects of ECB? What Lessons Learned were learned by the CDC? Key activities for ECB: defined “evaluation”, built evaluation framework and evaluation-literate workforce, “listening sessions”, contributors input, climate readiness, dissemination, field testing (just to name a few)
Anoka-Hennepin SD Four Goals: 1. Focus on commitment and skills in program evaluation 2. Data collection and presentation 3. Facilitate the existing school improvement process 4. Create a network of teachers, admin, staff for class and school inquiry What strategies were used to accomplish the goals? Who was involved in the process and what resources were allocated? What went wrong? How do the key components of ECB differ from the efforts of the CDC?
