Outline • Introduction • EPON with an action RN • LT-DBA Algorithm • Simulation Results • Conclusions
Introduction • Active forwarding RN(remote repeater node) • Increase the downstream performances using a traffic-redirecting technique. • LT-DBA mechanism • Increasing the upstream utilization and reduces the packet delay in the ONU.
EPON with an action RN • Active RN(remote repeater node) • Upstream • Downstream
LT-DBA Algorithm • In the first phase • The OLT will run the normal DBA algorithm to allocate timeslots to corresponding ONUs. • In the second phase • The LT-DBA algorithm will make the decision to excess grant a particular ONU’s assigned timeslot based on its previous upstream transmission.
LT-DBA Algorithm(cont.) • Ui,k:ONU I request slot. • Gmax:Max slot can assigned for each ONU.
LT-DBA Algorithm(cont.) • OLT will assume that all ONUs are within the same subnet. • Empty timeslot received on a particular time interval that is assigned to ONU x. • Empty upstream timeslot occurred for ONU x and receives frames from ONU x with destination to ONU y.
Conclusions • LT-DBA mechanism incorporated with repeater-based active RNs, which is improve the upstream transmission performance from ONU to OLT.
