CMS lumi data to support ATLAS 2012 pp analysis Marco Zanetti, MIT
Scope • ATLAS is having troubles in getting the 2012 pp integrated luminosity • Currently all their 8TeV papers quote the 2011 paper with a non documented uncertainty coming from the Nov12 scan • One of the main issue is the extrapolation from the VdM scan PU conditions to the bulk of the PU distribution • They suspect a non linear response of their luminometers • Incidentally, what about ours?.. • They started a pixel cluster counting analysis, but not mature enough to use that as reference • They would then use our data as reference
Request • They can access our HF data (published), they would refer to our pixel though • It’s easier for them to work with the HF to pixel scale factor rather then the pixel directly.. • The request is then the HF/Pixel recordedlumi ratio as a function of time for the VdM Nov fills and close-by physics fills: • 3311, 3316 (VdM fills) • 3300, 3318 (physics fills)
On our side • From Phil:sigma_clustervs. SBIL • sigma_cluster = freq_BX*num_clusters/num_triggers/lumi_HF • SBIL (single bunch instantaneous lumi) = lumi_HF/num_BX/t_LS • lumi_HFis the delivered lumi • Too complicated to interpret for them • Can’t we simply use pixelLumiCalc and lumiCalc2?
