Evaluation What are we looking for? • Academic: • Strength of schedule • Coursework • Sequence • Subjects • Academic performance (GPA and class rank) • Test scores
Why Non-Cognitive? • Non-cognitive student characteristics account for 10-15% of the predictive variance toward college performance (Robbins et al, 2004). • Non-cognitive characteristics are also connected to career performance and life satisfaction. • Research suggests that non-cognitive characteristics are stronger predictors of college success for low achieving, low income, first generation students.
Activities and Involvement • Meaningful, sustained community service • - Immersed in the experience • - Emotional awareness • - Develops a sense of responsibility • Leadership positions • - In school or within the community • Continuous commitment • - Dedication demonstrated, not just one time event • Employment vs. activities • - Demonstrates responsibility • Quality not quantity of activities • Involvement leads to opportunity
Transfer Guarantees for Students with SUNY AA or AS Degrees • Guaranteed acceptance to a SUNY four-year college • Guaranteed junior standing in a parallel program • Acceptance of core courses in SUNY Transfer Path • Satisfaction of completed general education requirements

EOP Process If deemed eligible, student may be offered EOP admission (on a space available basis) Individual campuses review academic and financial eligibility Submit the EOP Financial Information Form Apply (check EOP on application) If deemed academically overqualified, student may be moved to the regular admission pool (only if academically eligible) Reviewed for regular admission
