  2. ABOUT DAMAN • Daman is situated on the southern border of Gujarat just off N. H. 8 and is about 193 Kms. from Bombay and 4 Kms. from Vapi station, the nearest station on the Western Rly. Dadra & Nagar Haveli Territory is situated on the southern border of Gujarat just off N. H. 8 on the eastern side, about 199 Kms, from Bombay and 19 kms. from Vapi Rly Station. Nashik is 172 kms by road.

ADVANTAGES OF DAMAN • TAX CONCESSION Even today Exemption from Levy of Central Sales Tax to SSI / MSI / LSI Unit is available for a period of 15 years / 10 years / 5 years respectively for new Industries to be located in Daman as per Notification No. DMN/CST/35/2054 dated 5th February, 2003 and for a period of 15 years for new Industries to be located in the U.T. of Dadra & Nagar Haveli as per Notification No. DNH /CST / 35 / 1935 dated 5th February, 2003. There is NO OCTROI DUTY, NO TURNOVER TAX & NO ENTRY TAX • POWER TARIFF In comparison to Gujarat State and Maharashtra State, the power cost is Rs.2.92 per unit in H.T. & L.T. connections, which is almost half of the rates prevailing in these States. The rates of Diesel & Petrol are lower by about 3% to 5% when compared with rates prevailing in the state of Maharashta and Gujarat.

  4. FACILITIES • LABOUR & HOUSING These places enjoy peaceful and harmonious labour climate. Mostly they are not the residents of UTs but the are given accommodation by the company or they come from the neighbouring villages of Gujarat and Maharashtra by train to Vapi or by road transport The weather of Daman and Silvassa is fine with good hotels and resorts. There are about 68 Hotels in Daman, 32 in Silvassa and 29 Hotels in Vapi. There are good residential colonies and Apartments too and plots of land are also available at reasonable rates for construction of houses.

  5. TRANSPORTATION & HEALTH There are local Minibuses, S.T. Buses, Auto Rickshaws, Public taxies, & Travel agencies through out the area, at your doorstep of residence and works. The famous Truck operators and the courier services are also here. All the villages have Primary Health centers. There are about 49 Hospitals and about 213 clinics. The main Hospitals are in Vapi.

FUTURE PROSPECTS OF DAMAN • THUNDERBIRD RESORTS , PERU BASED SOUTH AMERICAN RESORT CHAIN IS DEVELOPING A FIVE STAR PROPERTY WITH STATE OF THE ART CASINO AND HELIPAD, ESTIMATED COST OF THE PROJECT IS AROUND 300 CR. • NEW INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX MEASURING 400 ACRES BEING GRANTED BY THE DAMAN GOVERNMENT AND THE WORK IS IN PROGRESS.
