  1. Esthetician Ethics/Professionalism

  2. It is extremely important to maintain professionalism at all times. Client’s privacy is protected as, much like a doctor, they often see things and know thing about their clients that is sensitive in nature. Certain esthetician standards are taught before they even take their state testing for their boards.

  3. Client relationships: • Estheticians are expected to be as professional as possible with their clients. • They are to keep what is said between them and their clients strictly confidential. • An esthetician is also expected to do what is in the best interest of their clients and will only provide the highest quality care. • An esthetician should not make claims about their service that is false. • If they can not help the client or provide the type of care that is necessary then they should recommend the client to see another health care professional and not work outside of their means.

  4. Practice Ethics: • An esthetician should only offer services that are within their means or scope of practice. • Esthetician should not perform any type of procedure on you that they are not trained to do. • An esthetician should also not use their equipment for anything other then what it is intended for. • They should also make sure that their equipment is cleaned after every use. • An esthetician should always operate within the guidelines of their state for disease management and control.

  5. Professionalism: • An esthetician should always dress appropriately to maintain professional appearance and should never do anything that would make a client uncomfortable. • An esthetician should only operate within the means that they have been trained. • Any esthetician should make sure that they know what the guidelines for training are in the state that they plan on working in.
