  3. Finding Someone to Talk to Repeaters are gathering places for people To talk. Most have regular nets 7:30 AM Monday to Saturday – Alto Pass 7:00 PM 7 days – Cape Girardeau 8:00 PM Sunday – Cape Girardeau 8:00 PM Tuesday – Carbondale 70 cm There are frequencies designated for Simplex communication points – National Calling Frequencies

  4. Initiating a Conversation Listen to make sure frequency is clear If not sure ask if it is in use “check to make sure your in your band”? (of course with radios you have probably Ok – Baofeng’s can go outside your band)

  5. What happens if someone cuts in when you were there first? Adding them to the conversation – radio can have more than 2 people (Also the reason counseled to avoid making it all about Church – California experience)

Try the International Phonetic Alphabet This is Kilo Charlie Niner Juliett Papa November But I don’t know the International Phonetic Alphabet! Don’t worry about it. Some things are best picked up by time and experience – not test Memorization.

Checking into a Net Net control will call for check-ins You say your call sign KC9JPN Net control will call on people in some order They will say KC9JPN go ahead This is your go to start talking Weather nets often have a list of common check ins and then ask for anyone else at End or they ask for check-ins by area.

  13. Giving Your Call Sign Every 10 Minutes(For people holding longer conversations or net controllers) Although you are free to talk in the language of your choice, your call sign must be Given in Morse Code or English (I’m betting on English as the class choice)
