Slide 1 – Payton here I am with my six brothers and sisters and my parents right before we got on the train to go to Mayer. My father tried to make it seem like a vacation, but we all new better. I am standing between my two younger sisters, Aiko and Kaori. My older sisters Natsumi and Kin are behind us. One of my brothers, Takumi, is standing next to my mother and my other brother, Seiichi, is standing next to my father. Slide 2 – Allison These signs are all over our camp you can hardly walk three feet before you run in to one and have to turn around.
Slide 3 – Payton this is our camp in Mayer, Arizona. It is so small because it is only an assembly center. As soon as they move us all to either a internment camp or relocation center. Slide 4 – Allison the girl that is circled is me. When we first got to the camp we had to wait in this long line for hours to get registered in the camp. The line was hundreds of people long and people were pushing and shoving to get ahead. Many families were separated, and adults had to go in to a different line than children. Somehow my family managed to stay together in all the chaos.
Slide 5 Payton- We made many new friend when we were in Mayer. All the kids played together when ever we got the time. Sometimes, if we were lucky, we got to play with toys like this ball. Slide 6 Allison- This is my best friend from back home FusaTsumagari. One day I heard her on the radio. We weren’t supposed to have a radio, but a man in our room snuck one in. She was interviewed by a reporter about her experience in the camp. I was so glad to know she was ok.
Slide 7 Payton- after I heard Fusa on the radio things started looking better. Slide 8
